启功（1912-2005），字符白，也作元伯，北京市人。中国当代著名教育家、古典文献学家、书画家、文物鉴定家、红学家、诗人，国学大师。著作等身，主要代表作有《启功丛稿》、《启功韵语》、《古代字体论稿》等。历任北京师范大学教授，中国政协常务委员、中国书法协会名誉主席、中国佛教协会、故宫博物院顾问等要职。Qi Gong (1912-2005), styled Yuanbai and also known as Yuanbo, was a native of Beijing. He was a renowned contemporary Chinese educator, classical philologist, calligrapher, painter, cultural relic appraiser, Redology scholar, poet, and master of traditional Chinese learning. With a prolific body of work, his major representative publications include Qi Gong's Collected Essays, Qi Gong's Rhymed Verses, and Essays on Ancient Chinese Script Styles. He held significant positions such as professor at Beijing Normal University, member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, honorary chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and advisor to the Buddhist Association of China and the Palace Museum.
